Over the last year we have been asking some of the amazing and inspiring women in the Ottawa community to be a part of our award-winning Ask Women Anything (#AWA) initiative. At our AWA events, the fierce women whom we might see on television, or lecturing or blogging in our community take the time to sit down in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, talk about themselves and their work, and then respond to questions from the audience. We are finding that this is a great way to present these amazing women and their ideas and experiences without a media filter to construct them, and in a way that is positive both for them and for the Ottawa community-members who attend.
The Honourable Yasir Naqvi, MPP for Ottawa Centre, champions a program called Leading Women, Leading Girls, Building Communities as a part of his work. We recently sat down with him to ask about his inspiration for this program, and how he sees the Ottawa community evolving for women and girls. Take a look at what he said:
We loved what Mr. Naqvi said about his vision for women and girls in Ottawa. It dovetails nicely with the work that we do here at Media Action Média. Not only that, his initiative has been an incredible way to connect us with so many inspiring women from our community, many of whom you should stay tuned to hear from on this blog and to see at our Ask Women Anything events in the coming months!
